It's Wednesday!
Let's get out of the half-time show nontroversy and get into some fun
While I’m sure our television talking head overlords can strip mine a few more veins of half-time show outrage for us to suck on, (something I’m sure the NFL secretly loves since the game was hot trash), I propose we leave that behind and try to get our minds out of the slop gutter.
In fact, why not share this with someone in your life who you think needs to step off the ledge and get some whimsy back into their lives?
Bring the scares back
We here at GSC are fans of horror, but we do ask something of it. I’d rather have an uneven yet interesting smaller budge movie that pushes me places than another Scream. Well, it seems as though undertone may be the first in 2026 that accomplishes this…
Creepy internet sounds are a great starting point for a horror movie and while the thrust of religious iconography in the trailer suggests demonic possession, which can be a bit ho hum, I’m still intrigued.
Liminal space horror is also currently a thing you should at least be aware moving forward. If you want to dive deeper into the backrooms of liminal space lore, you can check out The Backrooms series on youtube…
There’s a whole series and a bunch of copycats so you could lose yourself in the unease of these pretty easily.
But this is all just background and not my original intent. Because a new movie which will be on my radar takes the concept of liminal spaces and then seemingly constructs a more straightforward narrative around it. Folks, meet Exit 8:
Movies are great of course, but I still want you to continue reading. Why? Because it’s important to keep your mind nimble and curious, and there are few mediums better than a good book. Alas, I know societally we hate to read because it’s tedious and boring and takes too long and we’re kinda dumb about it, but I’m here to tell you to shove those thoughts away and find a good book. Now, I don’t share this 2026 anticipated book list because I think it’s the be all end all of recommendations, moreso to get you thinking about reading again but I truly believe if we all read more we’d all be better.
Stuff to ponder
I don’t want to spoil the fun of the headline of this article, other than to say maybe shut up science, I can see stuff just fine.
And this article certainly feels sure of itself, speaking with certainty about a bunch of stuff in the cosmos that I’m not sure we should speak so certainly about…
… since you know, it seems sometimes science isn’t 100% accurate. And look, I’m not trying to cast doubt on the scientists because I clearly understand science isn’t out here answering questions, it’s just out here confirming hypotheses, and simply moving us closer and closer to universal truths; and that road is of course bumpy and full of potholes that we can’t foresee until we take stuff out for a test drive. So this article is actually refreshing and confirms my true belief in science that we make mistakes along the way to ensure more accuracy.
Which is why I go back and suggest it’s a little goofy to speak with such certainty about places we know barely anything about.
Whoa, got a bit off the rails there for a Wednesday morning. But I refuse to apologize because we all need to get our minds out of the slop and into the real world.
And what better way can I be your existential tour guide than to provide the soundtrack for your potential enlightening mind unlocking?
While I won’t be so bold to suggest you’ve never heard of Comus, I’m confident they’re not widespread well known. And they’re going to give you something perhaps you aren’t ready for…
