This weekend gives us maybe two things to watch…
The Big Cigar is an Apple TV series about Huey P. Newton’s run from the law. For awhile I thought it was going to be a movie, but no everything theses days needs to be dragged over six to eight hours and turned into TV.
We’re also getting the season finale of Saturday Night Live, with host Jake Gyllenhaal. And you might think that to be a weird choice at first, until you realize he 100% nailed it in The Sack Lunch Bunch and he should be pretty much up for anything…
Not this weekend but coming soon and definitely intriguing… new Terminator content coming in the form of an animated series, which will embrace the IP of the previous six movies. Would I have been able to come up with the fact that there have been six Terminator movies had you asked me before I read this? Maybe, but it would have taken some brain power. (And yes, I know there was also a television series thrown in there.)
Hammer of the Gods
So we’re finally getting a Led Zeppelin documentary. I mean, it’s been around since 2021, but with no distributor, the only way you could see it was if it popped up at a film festival. This teaser doesn’t do much in the way of giving us any insight about what the film will cover, but if I had to bet it’s not going to go into too much about how they basically ripped off from a variety of artists, including many an African American bluesman.
Speaking of Led Zeppelin, and vague movie trailers, there’s a mildy strange story about the band playing a 1969 Maryland show… and whether the show actually happened…
I guess because the documentary here uses a ton of Zep music, it’s nearly impossible to see… again only if it shows up at a festival near you.
Who’s ready to laugh?
Conor O’Malley has a new stand up special on youtube, and if you know… you know. And if you don’t, well, I’m not sure I can properly describe Conor O’Malley so…
